Group ABA Therapy
Some skills are better taught and practiced in a group setting. When we have clients with similar goals and interests, we can arrange dyad and small group sessions, typically run in centre in a 1:2 ratio. If you would like to inquire about our current dyads/groups, we'd love to see if your learner would be a good fit to join in. The more the merrier! We offer wide range of groups, run by an ABA Therapist and supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst.
Our groups run throughout the year in blocks. Most of our groups are capped at 2-4 participants, unless a slightly larger group of 5-6 participants is appropriate. Spots are limited!
Hey teens in Waterloo Region!
Check out our summer programming below.
Or stay tuned for our Fall 2025 groups.
Registration opens in July!
The Group Supervisor will review the learner's file and reach out to schedule a group screening appointment, at no cost.
A group screening appointment is a 30-60 minute observation conducted in-centre. It is a chance for us to meet the learner and get to know them in a brief observation, and to confirm the learner's fit in one of our groups. We will set up a variety of common group scenarios. We will also try to observe any relevant skill domains (ex. communication, social skills, play, independence etc.).
Group screening notes and a consent form may also be completed at this time.
If we have any reservations about the learner joining a group, we will try to offer alternative service options when possible.
After the group screening appointment, a Group Registration Form will be shared with you. If a Medical Alert Form is applicable, that would be completed as well. Both of these forms can be completed electronically. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about these forms, or help you complete them over the phone.
Once your registration form has been completed, the learner's file will be set up shared with you and members of our senior clinical team. This marks the beginning of your service agreement with Best Behaviour. Welcome!
The learner will begin attending their group sessions, as outlined in the registration form.
At the end of the group, a group summary report will be shared. The purpose of this report is to summarize the learner's goals to date and recommendations for next steps (including strategies to continue and any potential service extensions).
Group sessions will be billed at an hourly rate of $75/hour. This applies to direct hours spent with the learner. Indirect hours will be factored into the hourly rate.
After the first group session, an invoice will be emailed for the full cost of the group therapy program (including the first session). For example, if the group runs for 15 weeks, an invoice will be sent during Week 2 for the full 15 weeks.
The following cancellation policy will be included in your Group Registration Form:
Group registration is final sale.
In the event of a cancellation, I must notify the group leader directly. Cancelled sessions will not be refunded.
Sessions will not be held on the following statutory holidays: New Year’s Day, Ontario Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
In the event of inclement weather, Best Behaviour Inc. reminds all clients and team members to travel by car only when it is safe to do so. When you do travel, allow for extra time, take care, and have caution on the roads. If the centre is closed due to inclement weather, all parties will be notified. The session will be refunded. If the centre is open, then it is expected that the learner will be attending their group session.
If Best Behaviour cancels a group session for any reason, they will contact me as soon as possible. I will not be billed for a session that is cancelled by Best Behaviour Inc.
Each learner must continue to meet the inclusion criteria described in the Group Information Sheet. This is to ensure the group learning environment is a fun, safe, and productive learning space for everyone. If the learner begins to engage in any challenging behaviours that act as a barrier to their learning or their peers' success, Best Behaviour Inc. will attempt to work with the learner to overcome these barriers within the allocated support and supervision ratio for the group program. If the learner continues to engage in challenging behaviours, Best Behaviour Inc. may need to discuss increased supports or alternative services for the learner if the group program is no longer the best fit. This will not be done without significant communication and efforts to work with the learner to overcome these barriers. Remaining group sessions will not be billed if the learner is asked by Best Behaviour Inc. to no longer attend.
If attendance falls below 75% of sessions scheduled, Best Behaviour Inc. reserves the right to offer the recurring appointment slots to another family. This will not be done without significant advance notice and communication. Events such as vacations or holidays will not count against this policy.
You can access ABA Therapy through a variety of funding options.
We are an OAP Approved Provider. All of our ABA services are supervised by clinicians on the OAP Provider List.
ABA Therapy is considered an eligible expense to be purchased using OAP budgets, childhood budgets, interim one-time funding, and needs-based Core Clinical Services. Some of our services are also covered under Special Services at Home (SSAH) funding.
ABA Therapy may be covered by some extended health benefits. It is recommended that families call their insurance provider to confirm if they have coverage for therapy supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CBPAO), before registering for service.
Please note that all of our services are subject to revision, and results are not guaranteed. We use evidence-based strategies to base all of our interventions and clinical recommendations.
If non-evidence-based interventions are requested, their effectiveness must be monitored closely. Alternatively, referrals can be made to other professionals better suited to oversee such interventions.
As a team of Registered Behaviour Analysts, it is our duty to abide by all relevant legislation, regulations under the legislation, Standards of Professional Conduct, and College-endorsed Codes of Ethics within the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
If behaviour analytic services are not provided in accordance to these stipulations, the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) has a system for concerned individuals to file a complaint or report to the College.
