You are reading this page very likely because you know a child with autism. Many books and web sites on the Internet reference characteristics of autism including:

  • Qualitative impairments in social interactions
  • Qualitative impairments in communication
  • Restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behaviour (DSM, 1994).
These characteristics help diagnosticians identify and correctly diagnose autism. While it is crucial that a correct diagnosis be made, we believe that a diagnosis alone does little to acknowledge either the humanity of autism or help chart a proper course of action after the diagnosis is made. It has been our experience that many families after hearing the bad news from their doctor, don’t know where to turn for support or what services they should be seeking for their child. We hope that Best Behaviour Consulting can offer your family some support beginning with the information on our web pages.
